PURPLE

as you may or may not know, i live at home with my parents.  in the room that i spent most of my middle and high school years.  i got out, went to college five states away, and then came back.
there's not really anything for me to complain about when it comes to living at home.  i've got it good, and i save a ton of money.

but one thing that i do regret is not repainting and redecorating my room before i settled back into it.  well, i guess if i'm going to regret something, it's that i ever thought picking a purple carpet was a good choice.  (when you're in middle school and your parents let you loose in a carpet store, the world seems like your oyster).

i spent the first month and a half after i graduated from college unemployed and trying to figure out what to do with my life.  (oh, and playing bakery story. and watching bravo. it was winter. i was a loser with pretty much no friends. deal.) what i should have been doing during that time was painting my room and going through my stuff and getting rid of it.

anyway, here i am, nearly two years later (two years?!? has it really been two years since i finished college???) still sleeping in a room with pale yellow walls and purple carpet and a desk that functions more like a storage space for random things that i'm convinced i'll someday need.
i've done some things here and there.  i finally cleaned out a bin that had college stuff in it.  i've decorated and rearranged a few bookshelves and dressers. i've gone through my closet a billion times and taken stuff to the salvation army.  there are little spots in my room that actually do showcase my taste and style.

but i dream of having my own apartment; of starting from scratch and a blank slate; of decorating it slowly and just the way i want.

here's some of the lovely things i envision for that space:

{pin it}: home edition

Ah, decorating.
Let me preface this post by saying that living at home with my parents during this stage of life is an absolute blessing and I'll forever be grateful to them for it.
However, I can't WAIT to decorate my own apartment or house someday.

Here's just a few things I dream of:
