Life has been a little bit topsy-turvy lately, and not in a good way.
But, that's the way life is, isn't it? Sometimes you have to trudge through the not-so-good parts in order to be thankful and recognize the good ones for what they are.
So, I find myself in one of those funks where I'm restless and aching to do something spontaneous, or shake things up, and in order to put those desires into words, I give you....
a wish list of things that are on my mind at the moment.
1. I want to do some traveling. I don't really care where, preferably somewhere new.
2. I'd love a new camera. I've outgrown mine. I have my eye on a Nikon D-7000. I'd also love a 50mm lens. They produce such pretty images.
3. If I could drive any car, it would be a VW Jetta. I've always loved VW's, and I probably always will.
4. I want an apartment of my own. I like living at home, and it certainly is fiscally responsible, but I miss having the freedom & grown-up feeling that living on your own provides.
5. I want my nose pierced.
6. I want to spend a day in NYC, or DC, or any city, really. Going to outdoor markets, spending a day lounging in a park...doesn't it sound perfect?
8. I want to make a difference. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself, some project or cause that matters.
9. I want to be challenged. I was hoping grad school could fill this void. Maybe it's just the fact that it's summer, but I don't feel like I'm learning very much in my class right now. I want heated debates about the state of education! I want rousing articles and thought-provoking lectures! Instead, I've learned that Descartes struggled with poor health and influenced modern-day education.
10. I want an adventure.
Thanks for listening to me rant and ramble.

1 & 6- why not pop down to Philadelphia? I spent time there on jury duty and enjoyed pretending I wasn't a visitor.
ReplyDelete7. I love these! I would do that. Lydia would probably tell me I'm too old though.
9. Graduate courses in education will not give you this :( Sorry. It might happen if you were at a larger university, but most masters level classes are just more of the same.
10. I'm 42 years old and I still am waiting for that longing to go away.
argh. sorry to hear about the not-so-stimulating grad classes :/ what gives? weird.
ReplyDeletei hear boston is really nice this time of year... no? yes. get up here.
tony's new gf has a feather extension! but that video features papyrus font. boycott.
piercing of the schnoz, eh? :)
sooooo if you were to get a new camera...
ReplyDeletewhat would you do with your old camera... ?
pretty soon you can adventure your way up way for a certain wedding... and you are totally welcome to stay with me! Maybe we'll have time for a visit to Boston too!
you have such nice friends Betsy. I am glad that you made relationships at Gordon that will last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh you are my daughter...always ready for an adventure.
You know I am not even offended by the desire for your own place, but be fiscally responsible a little longer...it will pay off in the end....besides it isn't so bad at 23 Petsch Rd, now is it?
