Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

my bff got married back in january and i got the privilege of being her moh.  it was so much fun to be a part of her special day, and even more so, the whole process of planning her wedding!

i remember the night jen asked me to be her maid of honor.  she was so excited that she couldn't wait to see me at church, so she called and asked me over the phone.  i was just emotional in general because aj was getting ready to move to boston, but i sat on that phone call, crying and saying "i'd love to!"

she later gave me a mug that she had hand-painted with my name and "maid of honor" on it…it was so sweet!

i've been thinking about creative ways to ask your friends to be your bridesmaids, and decided to play around with creating some printable cards that any bride could use!  if you're interested in purchasing these cards, email me at betsygettis@gmail.com for more info!
how did you ask your bridesmaids to be part of your big day?

since it's wedding season, i've been working on designing a few other bridal shower game templates!

aj's cousin nora is getting married next fall and going with a gold & black theme.  personally, i was addicted to this color pairing this winter!  it's fun for a classy wedding or party any time of the year!

these games are fully customizable, just email me at betsygettis@gmail.com to order them!

are you planning any bridal (or baby) showers?  what games are you playing?

Bridal Shower Games // Chevron Designs

if you've been following along on heavens to betsy in the past few months, you may know that creating bridal shower games has become a little bit of a hobby for me!   when i was planning my best friend's bridal shower last november, i designed a few bridal shower games that we used during the time that jen was opening her gifts.  since then, i've customized some of my designs for quite a few people and have realized that i definitely need to open an etsy shop, but just don't have the time to dive into that right now.  selling them through email & paypal is working for the time being!

i've always loved chevrons and have been wanting to design some of these games with a chevron theme.  i also have been wanting to use one of my all-time favorite color pairings:  yellow and gray!  so here are a few new bridal shower game designs!

Bridal Shower Games // Would They Rather?

when i was planning my best friend's bridal shower last november, i designed a few bridal shower games that we used during the time that jen was opening her gifts.  guests got something to do while she opened and jen got to take her time!  i created a 10 questions game and a mad lib, both of which were fun to fill out!

throughout the process of designing and using these games (and then customizing them for a few others), i sort of realized that it was a really fun project!  so i started designing more, and wanted to share this one with you!  i've also had a bunch of requests to have my designs customized, so i thought it would be fun to expand my arsenal!

i took the idea of the game "would you rather" and came up with a fun "would they rather?" version for a bridal shower!  guests can choose which option they think the couple would pick and then see how many they get right!

Be Mine // Downloadable Valentine, Pt 3

today, i've designed another downloadable/printable valentine card and iphone background to share with you!

i've loved the lumineers for a while now…they're one of my favorite vinyls that i own!  their song "ho hey" was pretty big on the radio for awhile, and i just love the line "i belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart".  i mean, let's be real, who doesn't love that line?  so hopeless romantic….

so i created a fun little print using that lyric!  feel free to download, print, pin, whatever!  enjoy!

if you missed them, check out part one and two of my downloadable valentines series!

Be Mine // Downloadable Valentine, pt 2

today's valentine is a quote that i just adore…"i love you to the moon and back" is something aj and i say all the time and it's even painted on a couple of canvasses in my room (check it out here).  i actually created a valentine card and gave it to him in our first year of dating that said this exact quote on it!

so here's your printable & iphone5 background!  happy valentine-ing!

Be Mine // Downloadable Valentine, Pt 1

valentine's day is just a week away and i can't help but remember last year.  i was student teaching and picking out spy-themed valentines for all of my 3rd grade kiddos, which was so much fun and a total throwback to my elementary days.

so in the spirit of exchanging valentines, i'll be posting a few of my own downloadable (and printable!) valentine designs for you to use as you please!  these are a little more grown-up than your boxed sets that you handed out in fourth grade (not that i'm knocking those!), but hey, we're a little more grown-up now too, right?

so here ya go….download, print, use however you like! happy valentines day from me!

Design

Over the past few years I've been honing and expanding my graphic design skills through my job and this blog and just for fun!  AJ is also a graphic designer, and we're working on creating a freelance business (check out our site here).  For Jen's shower, I designed a few Bridal Party table games, which have sort of blown up on Pinterest (thanks so much if you've pinned them!).  I'm totally blown away by the response they've gotten so far, so I thought I'd share a few more things that I've designed recently!

Some Invitations:
A print quote project for my boss:
Our family's Christmas Card:
And a Sermon Illustration:

If you can't tell, I particularly love designed for print.  AJ is much better at Logo design and web design (he's currently building an awesome website for a percussionist at Berklee and built the Fick Design Studio website), so together, we cover most of the bases.  If you're ever in need of design (web, print, or otherwise) services, head over to our website and fill out a form!  We'd love to help you out!

Sponsor Spotlight // Jess

I'm so excited to introduce you to one of my sponsors, Jess of Jess Vartanian Illustration + Design!  Jess runs an etsy shop featuring her own illustrations and designs, which are beautiful!  She also creates map prints and ornaments as well as jewelry with her illustrations.

I got the chance to ask Jess some questions about her illustrating.

When did you first start illustrating?
I first started illustrating in college when I was majoring in Biology and using my art as a relaxing class. As college progressed I dove further and further into drawing and my love for art continued to progressinto today.

What made you decide to open an etsy store?
I opened my etsy store about a year and a half after college when my now fiance finally convinced me to sell some of my illustrations and art.

What inspires you?
Nature & using our zoo membership always inspires me and pushes me to create more.
You sell a few different types of products on your store (illustrations, map ornaments, bracelets, etc.).  What is your favorite to make?
My favorite to make by far is my illustrations! I love drawing, but also love creating new items by hand!

Here are some of my favorite pieces in Jess' shop:

Check out her shop today!  She has some great gift ideas and holiday cards available!

Bridal Shower Games

I got such great responses to some of the fun little games that I created for Jen's shower last weekend, that I thought I'd post the actual jpg design files so that they're easy to see/read!  I have also designed more bridal shower games which can be found here.

I will be happy to customize one or both of the designs/invitation for you!  To get more info on this, or to find out pricing, email me at betsygettis@gmail.com.

We all know that the most boring part of a shower can be when the bride-to-be opens all of her gifts.  Sure, it's fun when she opens yours, but it's also not so great if you got her a spice rack and she's already opened three, or, if the shower is big enough that opening gifts takes forever.  So, to remedy this issue and keep our guests entertained, I created some little games for them to do while Jen opened her gifts.  We had the junior bridesmaids go around and hand one of each out to everyone, and the ladies were able to work on them at their leisure while watching Jen open her presents!

And a few more I created but we didn't actually use:

I printed these out on card stock and cut them down to be about half-sheet size.  They were a fun little way for guests to stay busy!  We simply collected the mad lib for Ben & Jen to read later, and we revealed the answers to the 10 Questions game by allowing Ben & Jen to answer each question in front of everyone.  It was fun to see what they agreed on and didn't see eye-to-eye on!

Oh, and here are the invitations I designed for Jen's shower (changed some of the info on them though!)

*I did get the concept for the games from a Pinterest post, but all designs are my work.
